There are only so many Wednesdays in a row one can put words on a blog and still call it Wordless Wednesday. I think the limit is three, which forces me to go ahead and make an official change.
Good bye, Wordless Wednesdays.
Hello You Capture Wednesdays.
Country-Fried Daddy and I recently had a talk about possibly upgrading our camera, which is a little point-and-shoot. I was complaining that the camera takes boring photos. CFD suggested perhaps I should first try to compose more interesting pictures before I blame the results on an inanimate object. I normally find this kind of reasonable point irritating, but he was right.
And so, Wednesdays are now devoted to honing my incredibly modest photography skills. On this one day, I will try to give you a more interesting shot than my kids smiling in the yard. (All bets are off the rest of the week, though.)
This week’s You Capture assignment was “color.” I considered taking an up-close photo of the insanely nasty wallpaper in our master bathroom, which appears to date back to 1960-something when ugly was chic. No need to scare you, though.
I decided to stick with the retro idea but found some prettier colors from an earlier era.
Miss D. got this Easy Bake Oven from her grandparents for Christmas, and she is mighty excited about it.
I am mighty excited about my vintage Pyrex bowls. I dream about populating my kitchen with this stuff; all I need is one fabulous yard sale hosted by people who don’t realize what they have.

Yummm, I’m interested in the brown color around that gorgeous red bowl. Chocolate!! Nice shot!
i think your photos are great!
i got a new DSLR, by the way, took a course at the adult school,
and find it much more interesting to take pictures where you actually make decisions.
I used to love my easy bake oven…great face!
Love the shot…the look on her face is great!
Great photo. Easy bake sure looks differently than the one I had forty years ago…dang I’m old, but that’s ok so is easybake!
Love it! I love old pyrex too.
I am wanting more than a point and shoot too – I’ve been doing You Capture since last March with my little Canon!
Change is good!
I love the idea and I might take you up on it too. I love this shot too!
I really want to see your wallpaper. We had a ton of flocked and extra ugly stuff in our when we bought it. Tearing it down was one of the first orders of business after we moved in and had a disco/70’s housewarming party.
I love that it looks like she’s waiting for her goodies to be done..
We also had a lot of ugly, orange, green, yellow and flocked wallpaper…
Ahhh, the easy bake, awesome idea! Still I would love to see that wallpaper!
So cute! I had an easy bake oven once upon a time.
She is so cute! I love this picture!!
How funny (or sad)! My husband tells me the exact same thing when I state that I absolutely NEED an slr to take my skills to the next level.
Of course I know that he just doesn’t want to spend the money he’s allotted to the tv fund. Pft!
Love the shot! Your daughter looks too cute waiting on her baked goodies.
I hear you about improving photography skills. For some strange reason people think composition is important?! Yikes! On to more practice for me!
Those bowls ARE gorgeous, by the way.
Great picture! Cute easy oven! Though doesn’t it seem like a lot of work, time, and effort for that dinky little brownie?
