On becoming real

“When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become real.” -Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit

When I started this blog last January, I knew I wanted it to be real.  I knew it would take a lot of time and love and maybe the magic of a nursery fairy to get there.

It could still use quite a bit of fairy dust, but I feel a bit closer to REAL today, now that my words are wrapped up in this beautiful package created for me by two talented women, artist Amy Saab and blog designer Shauna Callaghan.  (If you want to know more about them, please e-mail me and I’ll be happy to chat with you.)

I should also thank the academy…wait, that’s a different speech.

I should also thank Jennifer at Playgroups Are No Place For Children.  I don’t know her, but she has given me, and all her other readers, lots of valuable blogging tips, one of which was to make sure my blog design “doesn’t make your eyes bleed.”

I still have a long way to go in my quest to become real.  Someday, I hope, all the fur will have been rubbed off this little blog, it will have become very shabby, and it will be able to scamper off into the forest to play with the wild blogs who have been real all along.

Until then, I guess I’ll just keep writing about boogies and farts.

I’ve toyed with the idea of a “real” blog, but am afraid to mix the two. Proper Mommy and real Casey don’t always see eye to eye. If I ever did go “real”, it would be anonymous, I believe. That way, I could tell the internet what I really think of my family members. :)

The new format looks great!
I think you become real when you buy your domain name. Danmit; I knew there was something I wanted for Christmas.
Good luck becoming “real,” but to me, you already are.

Lookin’ good, CFM!

I’ve been thinking about having my blog done too, so I appreciate the recommendations in this blog. I’m off to check them out!

Your blog design is FABULOUS. My eyes are most certainly not bleeding! (I appreciate that!)

Thanks, y’all. And Gibby, the writing makes it real, right? You’re already there. See you in the forest, wild thing.
